Going on Moderated Status for Comments for a While

I started getting bombarded with spams this morning.  I am getting hit about every 6 minutes with a spam.  I am trying to find out how to stop them. It makes me mad because in the process of deleting all of these spams, I deleted at least one comment that I did not mean to delete this morning.  Sorry, Marlaine.  I deleted your comment from the War of the Worlds post.

Ok, I started out by deleted a couple of suspicious new users this morning but it did not do any good.  Then I tried saying only the ones that were registered and signed in could make a comment.  Still didn’t do any good.  So that means that it is someone that has registered but which one of the funky looking ones is it.   I guess I should just go in and delete all the ones that don’t look right.  I don’t know because some people do use unusual names.  This is so hard.  I guess it had to come around to my blog sometime.  I then put everyone on moderated status.  This seems to be doing a good job.

Well, now I have placed their IP address in my barred domains.  Let’s see if that does any good.  Well, at least the spam won’t be getting in my site as the moderated status is now working.  Thank the Lord for that.  I don’t mind deleting and marking them as spam.  I just don’t want them out there in my site for everyone to see.

I think I may have come up with the solution.  In the Options, Discussions area, it has a blacklist area and you can put the IP there.  Let’s see if this one works.

For some reason, the email of the person wasn’t showing up. That would have solved the whole problem immediately. Weird!

Oh, it has been about 15 minutes and no more spams.  I think I may have fixed it.  I hope so anyway.  I am getting tired deleting spams.  Well, I think I will leave the moderation on for a while.

I did take off that you had to be registered and logged in.  Please don’t stop leaving messages because I am moderating now.  I love to hear your comments……..just don’t want you having to see all those horrible spams.
